Adelaide Gaol Ghost Tour ....

We had 24 members attend this outing, with about half arriving early for a BBQ. It was an interesting tour of the gaol with a few scary moments for some. The two tour guides gave us an insight into the history of the gaol before we ventured into the cold, dark and eerie insides of the gaol.

Some of the funnier moments came as some ventured to the second level of a gaol cell block. They then gave a great rendition of "Jailhouse Rock", with Rob also giving an impersonation of the Headless Man.

The sounds of a rattling noise early in the tour was puzzling until Paul’s bulge in his pocket was found out to be a small length of chain.

Katrina looked like it was all too familiar, as she was strapped to the whipping board and was given a few lashings. We visited the Hanging Tower, and wondered what it would be like standing there, waiting for the trap-door to be flung open. Upon reading a board which listed all of the persons to be hanged in the gaol, the Francis' name was the only link that could be associated with our group.

We ventured into a darkened cell-block in the "New Building", and looking up in the dark was a silhouette of a man being hung on the second level. Unfortunately, this wasn't the Ghost that we were all hoping to witness, but a display of another hanging post.

The tour took a little longer than normal, but there was a lot of mischievous behaviour and friendly banter amongst the group.
