Gleeson’s Landing - March 2003

Some of us had a good start to our weekend by arriving late Friday and setting up camp in time, (or a bit late according to some) for happy hour, which continued until dinner time! We were glad to have our Enviro shades complete with side panels to protect us from a windy night and enjoyed chatting together until late.

Saturday was a fun day sand-driving, fishing, playing the best game of bouché in amongst a rocky track for added interest and a few walks in between. Just how many people did get bogged along the way? All except Fred I think, who was "tail end Charlie" and decided in his wisdom not to follow where others had dared to go. Lots of would e "Mal Leyland's" out there with their shovels, tow rope and plenty of reparteé on the CB's. A really good look for me, at a great club working and playing together.

The evening was relaxing at camp with a beautiful, clear, starfilled, night sky and no wind. Slept like a log, complete with red wine stains, which appeared from I know not where!

In our travels Saturday we took note of several areas we could clean up on Sunday and that's what we did. Armed with logo T-shirts, rubbish bags and trailers we spent a few hours collecting many and varied items along the way. After a group photo (rubbish collected as a backdrop), packed up and drove to the Warooka dump to empty 2 trailer loads of rubbish. Thanks Paul, Cliff and Tony, then home for there. Well done JC for a well organised event.

On a personal note I would like to say a big thankyou to all the Wanderers for being so welcoming to a new (soon-to-be) member. I enjoyed Clayton very much and Gleesons was a great experience too. Thanks also to Tony for offering a lift to someone he had just met at the meeting, much appreciated.

Hoping for many more fun times with you all and yes the red wine did come out!

HAPPY WANDERING - SANDRA
