Clayton Raft Races 2004



This was our first trip away with the Wanderers. We arrived on the Friday afternoon and picked the best spot before the rest of you arrived!

Saturday dawned cloudy and soon the showers of rain started and then became constant. There were no activities but happy ‘hour' soon arrived and out came the wine and nibbles. After a rushed dinner because of happy hour lasting a few hours, came red faces, which involved JC rummaging around in a change tent, while Tony, Sandra and ourselves argued over renting this property, only to find out it was a to(i)let! We definitely deserved a first but got a second.

Sunday was a beautiful, sunny day. Rafting got under way around 10 o'clock. What can we say! We beat the other teams 'hands-down', FIRST in Low Tech - Women's, Men's, Mixed and Children's. The men's team put in a valiant effort in the Tug o War, but the wind direction was against them!

The sausage sizzle at lunchtime was a great success, well done to those involved. After collecting our trophies we then proceeded to do well in the raffle, JC winning at least 4 prizes, and other Wanderers picking up prizes as well.
