Ahhh Nuts

Saturday morning we turned up to Jeanne & Geoff’s place later than we expected. When we pulled into the drive it started to rain.

We found a cosy spot under a tree like other Happy Wanderers, opened the sliding door and there stood Graeme & Shaz. They eagerly introduced me to their nephew Guy who was the same age as me. I took him on a private tour of our buttons and knobs. I turned around to get out of the car and there walking over to the car was my dear darling Daddy with a blue pot in his hand. I found out later on that the blue pot is our new sink. Only the day before Dad had tried to buy exactly the same pot, but a different colour, and couldn't get one. Strangely Graeme happened to be selling one as his 'trash', but is now our 'treasure'.

Then Tony decided it was time to put up the Enviro Shades, to shelter us from the pouring rain. While putting up the first one, we put up all but the centre section, because Tony had left the centre poles in the car and hadn’t realised.

Meanwhile, Bill pointed out that Andrew & Sarah had over shot the clearly pointed out driveway.

We decided to remove 3 tyres from Tony's car. In a brilliant display, showing off to his fiance, Tony ripped a tyre off it's rim, stripping off his outer garments in the process and stuffing his face with Carols wonderful scones. He then challenged the other men to put an older tyre back on, without assistance. Needless to say that Guy and myself had to actually pull them out of the hole and do the work ourselves.

Being bored Geoff drilled a hole in one of the tyres, and then we had to fix it with a plug. This proved very entertaining when people started creating and filling hole after hole.

Geoff then produced a radiator that looked very much like the one on Bugger and hacked a hole in it. Then he decided to make bread out of this special putty, showing us how to block holes with it. He also used it on tins of baby milk powder to show us how it could fix a fuel tank or sump also.

Then we all dropped what we were doing because Sandra and Paula had lunch ready. We all crowded under the compact size veranda trying not to get ourselves and our sausages wet. Sandra cooked the sausages to perfection and Paula provided a squeeze to go with them.

Before Bill’s commentary we gathered around the well tended fire to warm ourselves.

Then Bill got out his 24V welding equipment and then showed us how you can weld with two 12 volt car batteries. We all got to have a shot at welding, and then Bill & Tony fixed a BBQ plate.

There were door prizes then, despite the fact that there weren’t any doors. I won a block of chocolate and there were other prizes like a remote control car, 3 other blocks of chocolate, a protective mat, a thermal cup.

Just as we were leaving Perry started to show people his OziExplorer maps on his laptop.

Absolute beautiful day except for the bits that weren’t. Thanks to Paul C and Geoff for lending us his yard, and everyone else for turning up.

Jack
