Clayton Reunion

We arrived at Clayton Caravan Park Friday evening, ably lead by Jack's new OziExplorer techniques. We were met by Bruce & Jill and Tony & Sandra. JC then appeared saying he was setting up still and would catch up with us after. This was about 5pm and I’m sure he had been there since lunchtime! Oh, well I suppose the Taj probably wasn’t built in a day either. Happy hour was then instigated and forgive my recall on who arrived later, except that Paul, Paula, Kaiden & Daniel were definitely there as Paul unwound rather well on his first trip for a long time.

By the next morning Stuart & Karyn, Perry & Deb, Andrew & Sarah, Dean, Debbie & Chelsea, Chris, Margie & Gareth had all miraculously appeared. I do remember them all being there the night before, but not exactly when they arrived. I do however remember that JC was still hammering in pegs and fiddling around while we were chatting with Andrew & Sarah after dark.

I’m sure that JC was still hammering in the morning, but later found out that it was someone else. Paula left mid-morning to take the kids to a party, leaving Paul to his own devises. It was decided to visit the Murray mouth at Goolwa Saturday morning and have lunch on the beach somewhere along there. We were to meet Rick & Cindy down at Goolwa and were met by visitors Darren, Tracy & Jack just before we left, and Jacquie caught us heading off as she was coming into Clayton.

Whilst checking out the mouth of the Murray, Paul decided it would be fun to take Rex in for one more swim, so Deb would get all wet on the way back. This sadly backfired on him as he plunged from ankle deep water to armpit deep water. Thanks for once again providing those of us watching free entertainment. A nice lunch was had by all with those who wanted to spend time cockling enjoying the chance.

We arrived back at camp to find Fred & Emma set up camp and sporting their new 4wd. A Delica no less. Terry & Gill, Bill & Carol arrived after that and we settled into Happy Hour nicely, with Rick chewing everyone’s ear with ideas for a Red Faces evening.

The evening was kicked off by Glenda the Good Witch announcing Bill, Carol & Fred as judges. When Rick finally produced the program the evening was underway. Due to the amount of liquid refreshment that some consumed, there were people included in skits that you don’t normally see involved. JC thoroughly enjoyed his role, as you can see in one of these photos, where he gets mixed up in the dance of the 7 veils. We were even joined by other camp dwellers.

Sunday was a relaxing day with us all packing at our own pace. Thanks all for a great weekend.
