Friday
I left early Friday morning to get the shack ready for the mob. JC and and Eric & Shelly arrived early afternoon JC already had the winning look in his face. After setting up I took them for a drive down to the beach where they saw many dolphins in a glass sea that had a milky appearance mixed with clear blue skies and a white sandy beach as far as you could see. It will be a sight that they won’t forget. Parson Beach at its best. Late afternoon Barbara and Katrina arrived along with Bruce and Jill. Bruce and Jill’s caravan was placed in its usual location (the gutter). I might have to put a parking metre there for future trips. Wasn’t long and Cathy, Gary & Beth and Kym & John arrived, then at about 8.30pm Graeme & Sharon arrived and we sat around chatting around the pretend fire. The evening was a great one with many stories of past victories in the bocce from you know who and there was fun had by all on the first night to early hours.

Saturday
Deb & Perry arrived. Bruce had found he had no brakes on his car he commented perhaps the brakes on the caravan was stopping him on the trip to the shack. So it was arranged that John and JC would take Bruce into Minlaton for brake fluid, after bacon and eggs for breakfast. So that left me to look after the rest until JC had returned. The off-road Bocce championship had been organized for late this afternoon when it started to cool down. Jill, Bruce, Dale, Cathy, Gary & Beth all went down the beach for a swim and Dale trying his hand at some fishing. There were two runs out in my boat. The total fish caught was twelve, that was cleaned and eaten as an entree in the evening. Some also went for a drive around the surrounding areas to work out where we were going to clean up. After lunch it was time for the bocce games, to begin the rules were laid down by the umpire/player (JC) then it was onto business. Teams were picked and games were played with lots of exciting times, especially between John Hill & Eric ... Teams lost and teams won but we will be back next year (Russell Coight) look out JC. The rest of the afternoon was spent resting under the gum trees with a drink or two. After dinner we all sat around the campfire talking and joking about the next days activities over more drinks.

Sunday
After breakfast bacon and eggs along with much talk from JC about the in and out of being a great bocce player it was time for the finals. Tables and chairs were set with coffees in hand and a few cans. The rules were laid down by the umpire/player (JC) and the games started the first final was close played and won by Kym & Dale then JC and Jill took on their team and won. So now we had a one-end show down for the final.

The spectators got ready the coin was tossed and it was on and won by JC and Jill again. Well done Jill for holding your team together. But there was a lot of effort to stop JC from winning. There was an incident of car keys missing so he could not get to his balls. Pants dropping as he had his turn, not forgetting all the noise that was directed at him by the LARGE crowed and a member of a loosing team crossing in front of him as the game was on. But JC your mate (Russel Coight) would like to congratulate you on winning through all the bull s**t we threw at you. After that trophies were handed out. The water that club members had brought up, was tipped into the tank, thank you for that. Bruce was staying back at the shack waiting for the RAA to come. Then the clean up bags were handed out and directions were given. JC putting me in charge of a group and to lead them out to the areas around the sand dunes. We arrived at our first location and found it was not as bad as last year but still had rubbish there to pick up. The two groups got together around one fire place with heads down and asses up like sea gulls picking up glass from the fire pit, and filled one bag with glass. From here we broke up in two groups JC took his group to Barkers Rocks and I took my group to the Gipsy Wagon camp site were we found this area with more rubbish than last year. Due to my radio not working JC sacked me and made John his second in charge, this was hard to take JC.

Returning to the shack finding Bruce with his wheel off and still waiting. The RAA turning up to tow the car back to Adelaide for them. The Garry & Cathy offered to tow their caravan home for them. Thank you for doing that (from all club members). Early afternoon most club members had left. The trailer towers left around 3.30 pm to get to Port Victoria to empty the rubbish out of the trailers, and JC still with camper up (4.00) was the last to go. That left myself, Barbara and Katrina by ourselves so it was of to town for dinner on our return we headed down to the beach with a drink to watch the sunset, and think and talk about the weekend.

Barbara and myself would like to thank all club members who came to our shack over the two outings this year. New years party (29 people) and the clean up weekend (17 people) on each trip all club members have done all correct things around the shacks and beach areas, and the locals of Parsons Beach have noticed this. There will be future club trips to the shack. The New years party started 3 years ago number of people started at about 10 and has grown to 29 (2005) the shack is getting very popular.

THIS YEAR WE FILLED TWO TRAILERS - WELL DONE EVERY ONE

Paul (ably assisted by Barbara, Sharon & Kym)

Good time had by all ... Thanks to Paul & Barb for allowing us to camp.

Sharon
