Lee, Nicky and Sam Bond with Bill and Carol Saunders left on Friday morning towards the land of Blinman to watch and see landrovers in their natural habitat.
We were welcomed by the group, so we set up camp and enjoyed a few drinks as we observed the landrovers romping around the area.
On display there were numerous landrovers: the Range Rovers, Discoveries, Defenders, Countys, Series Land Rovers, military vehicles, Freelanders and all other models of the Land Rover marque. The vehicles painted in various allowed the landrover to blend into the different terrain that it traversed and yet there was even bright yellow landrovers that seem to say, "I am here and I am proud of it".
Saturday began with the best of breed display in the main street of Blinman and then after Lee had registered to do the trials we headed back to the camp site to set up a shading spot under the trees where we could relax and enjoy watching the landrover owners put their babies through the pacers. One Landrover was held up at the starting line as there was a need to extinguish the fire that ignited from the battery area.
Lee Bond won second place in the Long Wheel Base Coil division. Lee should be very proud of his driving as the course entailed driving through a tight course, manoeuvring through flags ensuring that the minimum flags are touched and that the vehicle is kept in a forward motion at all times. Points were deducted if the vehicle even momentarily stopped. The joy in his face during the event was a sight to be seen. Well done Lee.Later we observed a demonstration of rock climbing and then the evening was capped of with a BBQ dinner held in the hall at Blinman.
We chose to head of out on the Sunday and head down to Carrington where we completed the horseshoe rim 4 wheel drive track. A lovely drive that was just 3 hrs of fantastic views with a few challenging sections and ended an extremely enjoyable and yet restful weekend.
