Blast Off
JC was the last to arrive at our meeting point in the Munno Para Shopping Centre, what’s different about that you say? After grabbing some food and refreshments from Macker’s we were off Carrieton bound.

Our first stop was at Clare then Jamestown for lunch and fuel. As soon as we stopped Sandra hurried across the road as she had discovered a very well stocked quilting and bead shop in the main street.

walkingAt Orroroo where we met up with Jayne, Katie, Phil and Max then it was on to Carrieton were Steve, Tracy and Tim were waiting. Before we proceeded on to “Yankamittie” our destination for the weekend JC took most of the group to the front bar of the local for some medication.

So the Feast Begins
By mealtime Friday night Merry and Bill and Barb & Paul had also arrived. So the feast begins with 2 great soups, sausage rolls and garlic bread, all homemade. Then it was out to the campfire for a night of great fun and plenty of social banter under a clear sky full of stars.

At about 10am I rang to see where Fred and Judy were before leaving on our morning 4WD experience. Discovering Fred and Judy was coming via the Barossa and was not yet in Clare we started without them.

What a great track reversing the early part of last years route with great views and interesting creek crossings. Then it was back to the camp for a great barbie consisting of local sausages, bacon & onions on bread, yummy.

Fred & Judy arrived just in time for lunch and then they joined the convoy to start the afternoon section of off-road trek. This took us out towards Bendelby through the creek bed then up a seriously rocky incline along the south-western perimeter. We finished with another steep incline ending up on the hill overlooking “Yankamittie”.

campfireSaturday Night Feast
We had a large homemade hamburger with the lot, apple & apricot strudel with custard and cream. There was so much beautiful food that we couldn’t find room for the usual supper of scones.

After our meal we were serenaded around the campfire by Bill and Merry with a host of great songs, thank you both.

Over for another Year

Sunday morning was full of thankyous and good bys with yet another year of incredible hospitality from Phil and his family.

viewMonies raised for the Australian Professional Firefighters Foundation was $100.00 well done Phil.
We all met some new friends, (Baby) Max Ryan Fisher, Judy from Canada, Tracy & Tim and Steve the Firerie which was a great experience.

From me thank you all for your company as always anything with the Wanderers is a real hoot.
