Skills Day

SUNDAY 22nd APRIL was a great day of fun at Skills Day/BBQ held at a property at Two Wells, owned by Graeme Messenger’s Uncle.

Those present were :

John and Kym
Bruce and Jill (in their Merc)
Jean and Geoff
Paula and Paul
Margie, Chris and Margie’s Mum Ann
Fred
Deb and Perry

Our organisers for the day were, Sonya and Sharon, Ben and Graeme with Hannah and Tom as helpers.

We had several events to compete in.

BUCKET OF BALLS: Drive forward continually along marked course while your passenger attempts to throw as many balls into the buckets as possible.

CHRIS AND MARGIE won this event with 16 balls. It was harder than it looked!

MASHED POTATOES: Drive forward along a marked course and squash as many potatoes as possible. CHRIS also won this one with 33 squashed potatoes.

HAY BALE REVERSING: Attempt to reverse vehicle (mirrors covered) into hay bale parking bay and park vehicle as close as possible to witches hat holding the ball without knocking the ball off, as quickly as possible. GEOFF won this one.

BALANCING CUPS OF WATER: Complete driving trail while traveling with 2 cups of water on front bonnet. Finish by parking vehicle with left wheel parked in circle marked on ground. PAULA AND FRED won this one.

FIRE BUG: Attempt to start a fire using some or all of the objects supplied. Steel wool and torch battery was most successful. Most were successful 2 were unable to start a fire.

CREEK CROSSING: Use bread crates to cross 'creek' (which was an area covered in rocks and crocodile cut outs) on foot avoiding crocks, as quickly as you could, without placing your feet on the ground. Most completed this task one way or another.

The overall winners for the day were KYM AND JOHN and our illustrious President coming in tail-end-Charlie.

We all laughed a lot and enjoyed our day of fun and then had a BBQ for lunch under the shade of a huge Pepper tree.

Would sincerely like to thank Sharon and Sonya and families for another great social day out with our club. A lot of thought went into the day’s activities and it all ran smoothly and was enjoyed by everyone.

WELL DONE GIRLS.

Happy camping - Sandy.
