We put our names down for this trip thinking it wouldn't be too strenuous playing a bit of Bocce etc. in the parklands. How hard could it be. We watched the weather forecast the night before and a lovely day was predicted. So we packed the car with eskies and chairs and camp tables and food and bicycles and ... (well you get the idea) and headed off for Bonython Park. When we arrived there we found that the social committee had already arrived and secured us a nice spot under a shady tree. One could not help but notice that Ben was not planning to do much in the way of sport for the day as his knee was twice its normal size and covered in a compression bandage. We went about setting up our chairs and tables and started the first game of the day which continued on for the whole day. It was called "formation sitting". This consisted of everyone sitting in a circle which had to be enlarged every time somebody arrived and then diminished in size again as people started leaving later on in the afternoon. It was no easy task as chairs and eskies had to be moved while not spilling any drinks. Various other games were also played during the afternoon. These included the occasional water fight, get the hat out the tree, ring-pull round ups and ice cream dash. Before we knew it, it was time to pack the car again and head home for a well earned rest. But wait. No one had taken any photos. So we knocked some cricket stumps into the ground and got Ben to pose with a cricket bat. Click. Now we could all head home and put our feet up.A big thank you to Sonya and Sharon for organising another great social event. Chris PS. Just for the record. Sharon and Jill did actually play a game of Bocce, Disclaimer : please note |
