On Saturday night we went to the Clare Town Hall where about 100 people mingled outside prior to the Concert. At the door I met someone I knew from camping with the Wanderers. It was great to see Merry, and she was pleased to see Wanderers there for the night too. Once inside we met up with Sandra and Tony who had already secured nice front seating for us.The atmosphere was typical country Saturday night, only we were all quite a bit older. It was interesting to watch people and pick up on what they would have been like as teenagers, out for the night. You had the typical farmhand, the farmers' daughters, the out-of-towners, the guy who just stood and looked cool. Being the Clare Valley, it was bring your own alcohol and supper, unusual for a Town Hall event. Most of the tables had bottles of wine to drink instead of the stubbies, and prizes for the raffle were also from the local vineyards.Bill and the Band sang country songs from all over. The music was great, and there was a certain pride about knowing the lead singer. Strangely though, from the stage, he seemed to know most of the audience either by name or reputation. One song Bill sang with his grand-daughter, which was very cute. Looks like he has another girl in his life to tell him what to do. There were a lot of people dancing and time went quickly, a good testament to the singing. As we were leaving, I spotted Colleen. It was also great to see her in her element. Dressed up for the night and on the sound desk, quite different to camping.A good time had by all. Kym Disclaimer : please note |
