Martindale

We were only just first to the Riverton caravan park luckily as Paul had a lapse in expertise when it came to parking the van, slightly embarrassing as there was a caravan club set up nearby enjoying their happy hour.

Ben, Sonya, Hannah and Tom pulled up next to us and had their camper set up in no time. The sun went down too soon and it became cold under the trees, we had the awning out, moved the campground table over and settled down to a night of camaraderie. Sarah and Andrew and Sharon and Graham joined us under the shelter as they arrived.

9.00 o’clock arrived too soon on Saturday morning Deb and Perry joined us and Geoff and Jean arrived in the 4wd Mustang. We took the scenic route to Clare it was nice to see the green FIELDS, along the way we picked up JC and Jane.

Morning tea was supplied by the social committee which we enjoyed at Kym and Johns home site what an enviably serene place to spend your days.

We returned to Clare for lunch, Paul got out the metal detector but gave up Ben and kids took over finding $2.20 around the playground. Paul took the lead to Martindale passing more green FIELDS and a couple of brown PADDOCKS.

The hall was impressive anyone for a game of 8 balls, we all imagined ourselves as lords and ladies of the manor. At the maze shop we enjoyed a coffee while a few were puzzled by the puzzle, we farewelled Deb and Perry and JC and Jane.

On our return to Riverton Andrew, Ben and kids did their New Zealander impersonation chasing a lamb back to it’s own field.

When we got back to the park we found Chris and Margie waiting for us, as we settled in for happy hour the 4wd mustang went past waving they had been antique shopping. It was again a cold night under the awning with a blanket and electric heater, we farewelled Chris and Margie then gradually went to bed.

Not to be outdone, in the morning Paul was out looking for treasure with the metal detector success at last he found $3.00, a button and a bolt.

It took a while for the canvas to dry before we left, we had a wonderful weekend and I would like to thank Sonya, Sharon and families for organizing such a good weekend.
