Attendees, Paul and Paula, Geoff and Jeanne, Chris and Margie and their son Gareth, Karen, me and our son Sam. We left home Thurs, 10.00 am, and arrived at the Gellibrand Tourist Park at 8.30 pm, set up camp and retired. Friday, Geoff and Jeanne arrived about 1.00 pm, apparently stopping at every antique store they could find. About 3.30 pm, Paul and Paula, Chris and Margie and Gareth arrived and set up camp. ![]() Saturday we all set out to do some tracks and Chris’s land rover made it clear it didn’t want to. Apparently it refused to come over to the same destination last year, so it was returned to camp. After reshuffling cargo, Chris and Gareth joined in with Paul and Paula. We traversed about four tracks with two of them quite rutted steep long inclines. As I approached a large mud flat, being last, Geoff, Paul and Chris were standing n the other side and Geoff waved me through the middle and all the time the three of them had big smiles on their faces. Naturally I got bogged and they rolled around on the ground laughing their heads off saying, "Get your nice clean new strap out and put it in the mud."I’ve heard the saying "beware of Greeks bearing gifts" but I think the Wanderers 4WD Club should have one like "beware smiling Wanderers giving directions". Later as our trip leader was near the end of a track his three passengers were watching the track whilst he was enjoying the view of the sea at the Great Ocean Road. He hit a deep rut resulting in his high lift jack breaking his water container and busting his fridge lid. Gareth, being seven foot tall, put a large dent in the roof (not to mention he bruised his noggin).Saturday evening some of us went to see the glow worms. Sunday most of us went to the Fly Treetop walk and Triplet Falls, then Apollo Bay, whilst Geoff and Jeanne went to Apollo Bay and Lorne. (I don’t have to tell you why!)Monday we all made our way home. It was a good trip and we felt welcome and enjoyed the company of all on the trip and it was good to see how my 4WD performed.
