On Saturday 19th July I arrived at Graeme & Sharon’s property around 4:30pm and seeing the nice big campfire blazing away, I was quick to pull up a chair, a drink and relax next to the fire. Over the next 3/4 of an hour other members arrived and did pretty much the same thing.
Shortly after the rain came down and we all scattered for shelter leaving the campfire to burn by itself. There went any ideas of cooking on the campfire.
But Graeme & Sharon saved the night by having us all inside, and enjoying the variety of food in which we all supplied for the nights’ meal.
After first and second course, some of us having seconds of each course, it was announced the rain had stopped and the fire was still burning. Hearing that we started heading back outside to enjoy the fire once again.
Somehow it worked out the guys were at the fire talking about secret men’s business while the women were inside talking about secret women’s business.
At one point I headed back inside to get my chair only to be asked by all the women was I sent in there to check on them, at this point being the only guy there I panicked, grabbed my chair and rushed back outside with the guys, telling Graeme, "don't go in there it’s scary".After enjoying more time near the fire, dessert was ready, which had all us guys heading back into the house to enjoy hot apple pie with cream and a Boston bun.
With a full stomach I headed back outside to the campfire relaxing a bit more and gearing up for the trip home.Despite the rain we all had a good time and had plenty to eat.
