The Shakedown Cruise of the Black Pearl
On our first trip with our off-road caravan last year we accidentally discovered this wonderful event. While booking out of the park last year we found out that it happens every year at the same time, so we decided that we would come back in 2009.

Hot Rod Extravaganza
This time I put up a trip sheet and a few other club members came along to enjoy the event. Gill & Terry (along with their new Popup Caravan) arrived at the same time as I did and it wasn't long before we were relaxing having a long chin wag as we hadn't seen each other for a while. All the time this was happening more and more of the magnificent hot rods were arriving. A few hours later Shirley & Paul arrived followed later by Shazza & Graeme.
StoriesMore stories of other trips and events were told, even some of JC's jokes with Gill remembering a trip where she, Terry, Shirley & Paul were huddling around a very small cooking fire in a very dark forest when suddenly from nowhere over the hill came a helicopter with searchlights & loud speakers followed by police cars, Gill saying it was really only a very small fire imagine if it had been a big one. Thinking they were all going to be thrown in jail but luckily for them it turned out some teenage boys that had been riding trail bikes had had an accident and the rescuers were looking for them?
Rock n' Roll
Friday night after dinner there was a rock n' roll show in the amphitheatre which was just behind us a great night ending at 11pm.
It All Happens Saturday
Saturday after 4pm the most of the main street of Tanunda was blocked off to normal traffic and the hot rods were displayed until very late at night. There is also a dance floor and a rock n' roll band in front of the Tanunda Hotel until 11pm.
We spent the morning doing our own thing then at about 11am Jane & Jazzy arrived and we all walked up to the town for lunch in a Italian restaurant it was scrumptious.Street Display
As we had booked into a restaurant on the other side of the street display we followed the detour through the town parked our cars then walked back and admired all the beautiful vehicles in the main street.
Soon it was time to be at the restaurant so off we went to have another wonderful meal then it was back to the caravan park to listen to the music, discuss the world according to us while sipping our medication then to bed.
Going HomeSunday morning was the usual packing up and goodbyes after another great adventure with good company. To my fellow trip members thanks for your company.
While booking out of the park both Shazza & Graeme and Jane &JC booked in to do it all again next year and if you want to join us we look forward to seeing you there.
