The Bush & a Campfire is Calling Me ...

... Carrieton Here I Come!

The Bush is calling me
All the way though Jane’s rehabilitation I’ve struggled with the lack of trips away to the bush. After listening to the message from clinicians who have been assisting us during this trying time who have all been saying that as well as being there for Jane I need to also look after myself as well.

Away we go!
So on Sunday 11th April Phil F, John M, Jason N, Leon S & Mwa departed for trip to Carrieton. The plan was to leave at 7am but you know me and being on time, it doesn’t usually happen. So just before 8am we left stopping at Gawler to rendezvous with Phil F then we were away at last. Max, Phil’s grandson showed his displeasure of being left behind with a very informative gesture and parting words in his own special language which we all clearly understood.

Next stop was Auburn to pick up Jason N then off to Clare to buy some lunch at the bakery.

The Green House on the Hill
Food to eat then it was off to the Hill’s Green House on the hill. It was my first time I had visited since Kym and John had started their project. Like most of us we had keenly followed its construction via the internet but seeing it for real is much more impressive.

After lunch we departed for Yankamitla via Jamestown and Orroroo. As we got closer it was evident they had had a lot of rain recently by the amount of water erosion damage caused to the road and the trees with their surface roots being exposed.

Yankamitla
After unpacking and having a cuppa it was off to several of our usual vantage points of interest which were all slightly different due to the conditions.

Then it was back to the shack for the evening meal, some medication and a lot of verbal discussion on the wisdom of the world according to a gathering of clever blokes.

It was scintillating with all of us speaking the same language and not a brownie point in sight.

Monday - Bringing in the Sheep
While we were having a breakfast of bacon and eggs Phil was out on his motorbike bringing in his sheep for inspection. After we had eaten we went out 4WDriving and found Phil’s missing stragglers which we helped bring in.

The sheep were checked out by Phil and released. We then packed up, left stopping regularly first to make and receive phone call then to have lunch which we had at Jamestown.

Just south of Orroroo a semitrailer going the other way tossed up a stone and broke the front window of JC’s new Land Cruiser .... B----r. Boy did I need that country trip but all too soon it was over now I’m looking forward to my next one.
