Clean Up Australia - What No Off-Road Bocce? ...

Trip Members Shazza, Graeme & Turbo, Deb & Perry, Margie & Chris, Jeanne & Geoff and JC

Adelaide Cup Long Weekend
The official clean up weekend was on the Adelaide Cup weekend but most of us were busy so we did our thing 2 weeks later on the 20th & 21st March 2010.

Election 2010
Best laid plans of mice and men, no horse race meeting but now a *#^!*#o state election but we went ahead anyway.

Coobowie
Coobowie is a special place for JC as his father while he was alive visited the caravan park regularly to go fishing at nearby Pt. Giles.

Friday Afternoon
JC arrived to find Jeanne & Geoff already there in one of the parks cabins –yes you heard right.

Just think there was a time in the past when no self respecting Wanderer would even sleep under a bush because to do so was soft. Now we have one of the legends of the outback in a cabin - what next? Maybe JC in a pink tutu (actually he has a blue one).

Then later that evening Margie & Chris arrived also staying in a cabin.

Let the Clean Up Commence
Jeanne & Geoff and Margie & Chris headed out towards Wattle Point while JC waited for Sharon, Graeme & Turbo and Deb & Perry to arrive.

After lunch while Sharon, Graeme & Turbo met up with an old friend the rest of us went back past Edithburgh picking up more rubbish. Team Turbo caught up with us later on after some interesting conversation we finally found each other. A bit like the Key Stone Cops or maybe Benny Hill!

It was on to Sultana Point which was very clean then finally to the Coffee Shop at Edithburgh for refreshment.

Happy hour was calling so off we went. There was a little aggravation in the camp with JC confessing that Jane had not made any Nutties – the group were looking for the noose but luckily for JC it had been left behind. During happy hour JC had a several Nanny Naps only to finally been awaken by his mobile phone.

We broke up for our evening meals to gather again for a chat and to sample of our medication in Margie & Chris’ cabin. Noticeable Wanderers missing that night were Jeanne & Geoff and Sharon & Turbo the later 2 were plain tuckered out.

With Turbo taking Shazza for plenty of long walks which was clearly far too much for both of them.

Sunday – Still and Cleaning
Off we all went to Hickey Point which first appeared to be quite clean then we found plenty hidden under trees and bushes. While we were there Geoff went off on the hunt for more and more rubbish without his whistle.

We also found truck loads of dumped building rubble and probably asbestos which we kept well clear of. This was reported to Goldy from the Yorke Peninsula Council.

Back to Coobowie for lunch then all too soon our weekend was over and it was time to return home. Thank you all for your company.

2010 Off-Road Bocc’e Championships
It will be held on a yet to be decided Wanderers trip – watch this space.
