Follow the Summer ...

These words have come back to bite me. We left home mid February starting out in bright sunshine camping along the Murray, first disaster the shower wasn't working.

We went to Mansfield to experience the high country in the summer, I found it very refreshing, still green although along the way we could see the effects of drought on the surrounding area it was very sad to see caravan parks, motels and holiday homes around dry lakes.

We stopped over in Melbourne with an obligatory visit to the markets and casino, after living rural the traffic was hectic. We went to Wilsons’s Promontory and our first lot of rain, not content we went to Mallacoota where it also rained.

We put the boat in but the wind blew up the water became too rough for our little boat so we sat on the wharf where Paul caught a salmon, we didn't need the boat anyway. We thought if we headed north the weather might improve but no it rained again in Canberra.

I went to the art gallery to see the French Masters. I was impressed, well worth a visit, but be prepared to wait in line. We went through Cowra, the visitor centre has a display on the WW 2 prison breakout and an extensive rose garden.

We stopped at Sofala hoping to find gold but it rained again. Perhaps a trip to the coast might be the answer so we went to Soldiers Point, Port Stephens, yes we found the sun, sat around the pool resort style, what a life. No it couldn't last! Down came the rain again.

We moved on to Coffs Harbour to visit Pauls brother, from his house we can see over the harbour usually a nice view until the rain sweeps across. We are visited by a family of kangaroos in the evening and serenaded by birds in the morning, don't ask me what kind I don't know birds.

Don't get me wrong we are having a good trip we're just bringing the rain to the east coast.
