I must apologise for missing last months magazine I just lost track of time so for an update. We went to Mt Isa then south to Boulia. Paul was so impressed with the Min Min light museum from his tour days I was anxious to see it and I was not disappointed. We also went for a side trip to the channel country expecting to see lots of water and birds, I think all of the water had already been and gone and the grasses were dying off. I did enjoy the Min Min museum, after leaving Boulia we visited so many museums or tourist centres we just about had enough. We stopped at Isisford on the Bulloo River and spent some quality time yellowbelly fishing with some success. We stopped at Blackall on the way back to the coast and did go to another museum the Wool Scour. I'm glad I did go as it was well worth the visit. The locals have restored the steam engine to working order and they run the machinery for each tour. We went along the Fraser coast fishing along the way finally making our way to Fraser Island. Fraser Island is a top 4wd and fishing destination so it was an all round destination we did come away with quite a few meals of Tailor, the island is sand so there is plenty of sand driving including access along the beach. Heading Home We spent a few more days along the coast then the rain was coming in again so we went inland to Lake Boondooma, more fishing but this time back to yellowbelly. We had a perfect campsite with a campfire on the waters edge. It is getting colder now so a campfire is welcome I've put the shorts away and got out the jeans and jumpers. We crossed to Charleville, we had seen most of the attractions on previous trips the only thing I did do was the Cosmo Centre it was an interesting insight into the planets and galaxy, luckily I didn't book in to view the night sky it was overcast. We then headed south along the Matilda highway to Bourke we heard they were catching fish at Brewarrina so took a detour out to the Bogan River our fishing luck had run out we left with only one fish. We are now on our way home via Broken Hill maybe we can bring some of the rain to our farmers. Barbara Disclaimer : please note |
