(Combined with Gawler 4WD Club) 13th and 14th August.2011 Attended by Geoff, Jeanne, Chris, Matthew, Gary, Paul, Paula, Kaiden and Daniel, and six vehicles from the Gawler 4WD Club. Jeanne, Gary and I met the Gawler 4WD Club at Tailem Bend at 9.00am on Sat. and Paul and Paula and family arrived at Peake a half an hour later. Chris and Mat arrived when we were out driving. When we had all set up camp Peter (Gawler 4WD Club) said we could take one of their group to make it two groups of 5. I said we will take Simon as he is a Toyota landcruiser owner, and as we went to go to our vehicles Jeanne said you silly old fool, he was leaning against YOUR cruiser, he's a Nissan driver. The two groups went opposite sides morning and afternoon with our group experiencing bogging, being hung up, and I slid off the side of the track. I didn't realise we were in so much trouble until Jeanne was screaming "We're going to roll" and opened the high side passenger door and jumped out. She ran down the sand dune seeking comfort from Daniel. It took two vehicles to stabilise and extract (the ugly cruiser - Paul C's description). After the two outings on Sat. we had happy hour and lit the fire. Whilst we were sitting around the fire a mouse ran out from under the firewood heap. Paul screamed and jumped up on top of the concrete table. Most of us were amused but stopped laughing when he explained why he is terrified of mice. (A mouse had once stared at him). Gary, Simon, Paul and Paula headed home Sat. evening whilst the remainder sat around the fire and enjoyed a super calm night and a campfire cooked dinner. On Sunday the remaining group went out driving again whilst Jeanne and I relaxed in the sun. We departed Sunday after a relaxing weekend. Geoff Disclaimer : please note |
